Learning Values in Early Childhood Education

At Little Creators, we intentionally nurture key dispositions that support children to become confident, capable and lifelong learners. These values are embedded in everyday practice, relationships and learning environments.

Belonging and connection

Children thrive when they feel safe, valued and connected. We intentionally build strong, responsive relationships where every child is known as an individual. Through consistent care, inclusive environments and meaningful interactions, children develop a strong sense of belonging that supports their confidence, wellbeing and engagement in learning.

Critical thinking

Children are supported to think deeply, explore ideas and develop their own understandings. Through open-ended questions, meaningful conversations and intentional provocations, they are encouraged to investigate possibilities, consider different perspectives and build theories about the world.

Risk assessment and resilience

Risky play is an important part of children’s learning and development. With educator support, children are given opportunities to explore their physical capabilities, build confidence and learn how to identify and manage risk in safe, responsive environments. This supports resilience, sound judgement and self-awareness.

Conflict resolution

Conflict is viewed as a natural part of social learning. With guidance, children are supported to express their feelings, listen to others and work through challenges together. This builds empathy, communication skills and respectful problem-solving strategies.

A love of learning

Children learn best when they have time, space and freedom to follow their interests. Uninterrupted play and rich learning environments allow ideas to develop over time, while educators extend thinking through observation, documentation and thoughtful questioning. This fosters curiosity, motivation and sustained engagement in learning.

Independence and agency

Children are viewed as capable and competent learners. They are supported to make choices, take on challenges, solve problems and persist when faced with difficulty. This builds confidence, resilience and a strong sense of ownership over their learning.
