Learning Spaces
Our learning values are brought to life through the design of our environments, relationships and daily experiences. At Little Creators, our learning spaces are intentionally created to support children to think, connect, explore and grow.
We design our environments as three interconnected spaces: Explorers, Discoverers and Creators. These reflect children’s developmental journeys and our belief that learning is continuous, relational and responsive. While each space has a focus, children are supported as individuals. Transitions are guided by relationships, development and a strong sense of belonging rather than age alone.
Explorers (0–2 years)
In Explorers, children are building their first understandings of the world through relationships, sensory experiences and movement.
We focus on:
Educators provide calm, nurturing environments where children feel safe, secure and supported to explore at their own pace.
Discoverers (2–3 years)
In Discoverers, children are developing identity, independence and a growing curiosity about the world around them.
We support:
Children are encouraged to explore, experiment and build confidence in their capabilities.
A Connected Indoor–Outdoor Learning Environment
Our Explorers and Discoverers spaces are designed to connect seamlessly, allowing flexibility for shared experiences, collaboration and peer learning across age groups. These areas can also be separated when needed to support calm environments, focused learning or individual needs.
Both spaces open directly to outdoor learning environments, with an undercover transition area that allows children to continue play and exploration in all weather conditions. This supports uninterrupted learning, movement and connection with nature throughout the day.
Creators (3–5 years)
In Creators, children engage in more complex thinking, collaboration and sustained learning experiences.
We support children to:
The Creators environment is located upstairs, providing a calm, focused and intentionally designed learning space. This setting reduces noise and disruption from the daily routines of younger age groups, allowing children to remain deeply engaged in their learning, including during sleep times occurring downstairs.
Upstairs, children also have access to their own outdoor learning area, supporting a natural indoor–outdoor flow and extended opportunities for exploration, movement and play. In addition, children regularly access the large shared outdoor environment downstairs, enriching their learning through physical challenge, nature-based experiences and connection across the service.
Children are recognised as capable thinkers and active contributors to their learning community.
A Connected Journey
While each space has a focus, learning is continuous.
Children move through Explorers, Discoverers and Creators based on individual development, interests and relationships, supported by strong connections with educators and peers.
